On the final day of the Song Festival, a short practice session was held for youngsters performing particular set of gestures in conjunction with the song they were singing later in the day.

Since that first trip in 1999, I’ve been to Estonia many times and experienced many wonderful sights. Yet, one that eluded me was the Song Festival. My opportunity finally came in 2019. It was something I had dreamed of for two decades, but I never could have imagined how close I would be to the action – due to a press credential.

So, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the efforts made by my good friend, Viktor, in helping arrange the credential for me. Also, I owe a debt of gratitude to Maris Hellrand, the Festival’s head of international communications. Ms. Hellrand’s kindness in awarding me a credential for such a monumental event will always be remembered. Aitäh to both.
