This was the first of three Dance performances scheduled over a two-day period. The view is from the west side of Kalevi Stadium at ground-level, mid-field. The performances began immediately after completion of opening ceremonies. And, just like the practice session 90 minutes earlier, it was spectacular. Staging hundreds of people to take the field at precisely the right moment must qualify as a logistical miracle. The event organizers estimated there were a total of 11,500 dancers.
The venue’s intimacy makes this event even more extraordinary. Each spectator feels truly exceptional given the limited seating available for such a remarkable event. Without a doubt, this was one of the best performances I’ve ever witnessed in person. The best performance was still a couple days and a couple miles away.
