Over the years there have been many “happy accidents” in which I was fortunate to be in Tallinn’s Town Hall Square at just the right time. The performance of the Kärdla Puppet Theatre was one such instance. This group of young adults put on a mesmerizing show. The drum beat echoing off buildings surrounding the square and the staccato rhythm of stilts clapping against stone tile raised goosebumps on my arms. The dialogue was Estonian, but the message was clearly cautionary. The medieval ambiance of Tallinn’s 600 year old Town Hall building as a backdrop capped off a truly extraordinary audio-visual experience. Bravo!
